Concrete Estimator
About Your Opportunity:
As an Estimator, you will conceptually build the concrete project, pull the necessary components together and
establish, in an accurate manner, the anticipated cost of a concrete project. You will pursue competitive bid
proposals and efforts to prepare concrete estimates.
Must have a general understanding of building construction types for all concrete projects. Must be able to
communicate directly with General Contractors about bid status, future opportunities, and current pricing.
Estimator must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills. This position is
also expected to gain knowledge in the estimating process by attending bid reviews and weekly meetings.
How You’ll Contribute:
• Develop and execute strategies to win Concrete Bid Pursuits in the preparation of complete Estimates.
• Review of the documents to determine risks and advantages, bring these to the attention of fellow team
members during bid review(s).
• Quantity Survey/Detailed Take-offs
• Develop Pricing
• Utilize tools including Bluebeam, Takeoff, and others used by the department.
• Quantities will be input into Sage Estimating for pricing
• Develop detailed estimates on completed project documents as well as conceptual/schematic/design
development estimates from incomplete design information
• Establish and maintain relationships with Subcontractors and Suppliers in our markets to ensure their
participation in our pursuits and to develop competitive advantages when applicable
• Develop Value Engineering concepts and pricing for our Bid Pursuits as well as our preconstruction
engagements
• Attend Prebid Meetings and walk-throughs
Relationships:
• Reports to Director of Preconstruction and Estimating
• Provides support to all LV Concrete
Authority:
• Recommend improvements and new technology solutions for estimating software
• Gain fluency in understanding Sage database
Accountability:
• Prepare and complete proposals
• Select bid schedule
• Utilize building connected software
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Engineering, Construction Technology, Architecture, or the
equivalent of related work experience
• 2-5 years of construction experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Software Systems, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Have a valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to regional offices to support local estimating
projects
• Ability to work additional hours to meet business plan goals
• Have a valid driver license with the ability to travel and work additional hours when needed to meet
business plan goals. Ability to work on multiple projects and travel as necessary
Physical Requirements:
In a normal day, this position requires little to no standing or walking. In a normal day, the employee must be able to sit for 7+ hours. In a normal day, the employee must be able to drive 1-4 hours. Employee must be able to lift/carry up to 10 lbs. maximum; occasionally carry small objects. In this position, employee occasionally (0-33%) must be able to bend at waist, squat the knees, climb (including ladders), reach above shoulders, kneel, crawl, use feet (foot controls), and/or work at heights above 6 feet.
